T 34 B Mentor – Thats What I Like – An Ode to a U S Navy WW 2 Fighting Plane Trainer -Maury Muehleisen

April 25, 2010

Joe Mahanor. Thank you.

What it is :

After uploading the video of  Joe Mahanor s take off from Pottstown Municipal Airport,  I thought some might enjoy seeing this vintage WW2 U S Navy Fighhter Air Plane, The T 34 B Mentor.

The photos, mostly taken in the hanger and outside of the hanger, prior to  the takeoff, one was taken  in the air showing the  Navy legend in the air. The rest were taken after landing.  Included are some photographs  of our Captain, Joseph Mahanor , formerly Captain Pilot with  Ransome Air Lines, and presently,Virgin Air, and of the force behind the 2 films,  Nadia Trujillo.
Maury was a good friend. I loved his music, so I tied them together.

The Music of the Video: Who, What and When:

Maury Muehleisen wrote & performed the music that is behind , and supporting this video. The song is from his Capital LP album, Gingerbreadd, which has been re-issued as a CD.

Supporting Maury on  Maury’s Capitol LP, now legends, are David Bromberg, Ed Freeman, Eric Weissberg, Gary Chester, Jim Ryan, Joe Grim, Joe Macho, Terry Cashman, Tommy P West, Sal Detroia, Al Rogers, Pete Dino.

Maury cut this album before he teamed up with Jim Croce.

Paul Wilson did the photography on this LP. Paul did much, if not al,l of the photographs on the Jim Croce albums.

Henry Glasse, America’s premier folk lorist did the album cover and reverse side.

Joseph Salviuolo was Maury’s mentor, beginning when Maury was his student at Glassboro State College, now University.  Mr. Saviuolo’ s virtuosity on the piano is elsewhere on this blog demonstrated.  See Buttterfly Fly By,  https://miamitonewyork.wordpress.com/2010/02/12/butterfly-fly-by/
